ENA Connect Direct

Submit to ENA Connect Direct from the job

CircuitHQ builds the G98 or G99 application from the job you've already got in the app. You review it, press Submit, and it goes to ENA Connect Direct. No retyping the customer, the site or the kit into another portal.

  • You review the application and press Submit
  • G98 and G99 solar and battery, plus EV chargers, under 17kW per phase
  • Devices checked against the ENA register first
  • G100 and export-limited setups still get prepared forms

Not an installer? The Homeowner DNO Pack (£100 incl VAT, Great Britain only) fills in a G98 or G99 pack for your own system. Type A systems only (under 17kW single phase and under 50kW), and DNO fees aren't included.

Homeowner DNO Pack

How it works

1. Start from the job

Start a DNO application from a solar job, a customer or on its own. The customer, site and installer details come from what's already in CircuitHQ.

2. Add the devices

Pick the inverters, batteries and EV chargers from your device library. CircuitHQ searches the ENA register for inverters, batteries and other generation devices, and fills in the ENA reference, compliance status, kW, phases and G98/G99 type-test status where the field is blank, for you to check.

3. Check what's missing

CircuitHQ checks the details and flags anything missing, so you can fill it in before the application goes anywhere.

4. Review and press Submit

You read through the application. When you're happy, you press Submit and it goes to ENA Connect Direct. Nothing is sent until you do.

5. Track it

The application sits in your DNO applications list with its status and a dated history, next to the rest of the job.

6. Keep the paperwork

The single line diagram, the site and location plan and the forms stay on the job with the rest of its paperwork.

What you can submit directly, and what you can't

Direct submission covers G98 and G99 solar and battery applications where every device is on the ENA device register, and EV chargers, under 17kW per phase.

  • Solar PV under G98 or G99 where every device is on the ENA device register
  • Battery storage under G98 or G99 where every device is on the ENA device register
  • EV chargers
  • All under 17kW per phase
  • G100 or export-limited setups, and changes to existing applications, still use the prepared forms and a draft email to the DNO, which you check and send yourself.

If a device isn't on the ENA register, or the install is outside the scope above, CircuitHQ still prepares the forms in the format of the ENA G98 and G99 forms for you to send. The DNO decides whether to accept a connection.

Track every application

  • A DNO status on each job: draft, sent, more info requested, approved, rejected or withdrawn, with a dated history
  • Marking it Sent saves a locked, numbered copy of the pack
  • Its own DNO applications menu: start an application from any job, any customer, or on its own
  • One DNO applications list with a Source column, filters, overdue highlighting and CSV export

You update the status as the DNO replies. Apart from the applications you submit to ENA Connect Direct, CircuitHQ doesn't contact the DNO.

What CircuitHQ doesn't do

  • It doesn't submit anything until you review the application and press Submit
  • It doesn't approve connections. The DNO does
  • It doesn't cover every connection type yet: G100, export-limited setups and changes to existing applications use the prepared forms and a draft email
  • Systems of 17kW or more single phase, or 50kW or more, are flagged for you to discuss with the DNO

Questions

What is ENA Connect Direct?+

ENA Connect Direct is the Energy Networks Association's online service for sending G98 notifications and G99 applications to the GB distribution network operators (DNOs). It also holds the ENA register of type-tested devices.

Can I submit to ENA Connect Direct from CircuitHQ?+

Yes, for G98 and G99 solar and battery applications where every device is on the ENA device register, and EV chargers, under 17kW per phase. CircuitHQ builds the application from the job, you review it, and you press Submit. G100 or export-limited setups, and changes to existing applications, still use the prepared forms and a draft email to the DNO, which you check and send yourself.

Does CircuitHQ submit applications automatically?+

No. Nothing goes to ENA Connect Direct until you've reviewed the application and pressed Submit. You stay responsible for what's in it, as you would on the ENA site.

What does the ENA register lookup do?+

It searches the ENA register for inverters, batteries and other generation devices, and fills in the ENA reference, compliance status, kW, phases and G98/G99 type-test status where the field is blank. You check the details before you use them. The lookup needs signal.

What about G100 or export-limited systems?+

CircuitHQ prepares the G100 Appendix B export limitation form and the rest of the pack from the job, plus a draft email to the DNO that you open in your own mail program, attach the pack to and send yourself.

Is this extra?+

No. DNO forms and ENA Connect Direct submission are on every plan, from £29 a month + VAT, with a 14-day free trial and no card needed to start.

Is CircuitHQ approved by the ENA?+

No. CircuitHQ isn't endorsed by the ENA or any DNO, and the DNO decides whether to accept a connection.
