Guide for solar installers
MCS paperwork checklist for solar PV
A typical MCS solar PV job produces a lot of paperwork. Here's the list, stage by stage, and how CircuitHQ keeps it on one job so it's ready when your certification body asks.
- Every stage from enquiry to aftercare
- Documents prepared from the job
- In-app reminders for the deadlines
- An assessment-ready view of your records
The checklist, stage by stage
1. Enquiry
Customer and site details, and what they want from the system.
2. Site survey
A site survey report: the roof, the supply, the consumer unit, the cut-out and access.
3. System design
The PV system design, plus the roof design and fixing calculation for the roof it's going on.
4. Shading and performance estimate
A shading assessment and the MCS performance estimate given to the customer before they sign.
5. Quotation and contract
A written quotation and an installation contract, with the cancellation rights and form for a consumer sale.
6. DNO
The G98 notification or G99 application, with the single line diagram, site plan and cut-out photo.
7. Installation and commissioning
The commissioning record and the electrical certificate and PV test results for the installation.
8. Handover
The handover pack for the customer, with the documents, warranties and the MCS certificate once it's registered.
9. MCS certificate and aftercare
Register the install on the MCS database, keep a record of it, then log feedback and any complaints.
This is a general checklist, not the MCS standard. Always check the current MCS standards (such as MIS 3002) and your certification body's requirements.
